The Mindbender is a patented, revolutionary refinement on an age-old musical concept of bending strings to change pitch, with dramatically accelerated capabilities.
For the past 20 years, Andrew Scott has been on a quest, developing the future of electric stringed instrument sound. The result is the Mindbender, a new instrument that is extremely intuitive to play, and can be picked up by someone at any skill level. A truly fluid and versatile instrument, everyone does something different with it.
HOW DOES IT WORK??

In the middle of the string path, there is a set of roller bridge blocks, compensated to shorten/increase the treble strings frequency, and lengthen/lower the bass ones. The neck has no fretboard, but instead a recessed area for bending in the string or strings. This bending shifts the pitch of the string on the opposite side of the roller bridges when the string is plucked. The customized string sets have been crafted by DR Strings to maximize bending and stability. The instrument is designed to comfortably fit the basic ergonomic parameters of an electric guitar, and can be easily played on the lap or with a strap.
Over an octave range can easily be bent/played on each string. This allows for melodies and such to be played fluidly on a single string, and an overall massive tonal range for the instrument.

The Mindbender is fully capable of fitting something fresh and unique into smooth jazz, sludge metal, classic rock, alt country, and any genre you choose to create a new space in. The versatility is limited only by the player’s imagination.
Scales can be played, but also any possible note in between the low bass range and high treble, all microtonal pitches included. The Mindbender can be used for lead and solo playing, basslines, drone sounds, and much more. . . being played in a different, simpler way, producing a new range of sounds not previously available.
Special relationships have been made with USA companies providing hardware from Hipshot and Dimarzio for tuning machines and electronics, and a custom string set specific to the Mindbender has been developed and produced by DR Strings.
